string is commonly used by luthiers to hold binding around the edges of the instrument while the cement dries. I guess this is only funny if you don’t know about guitar repair…
Chris is right, the guitar’s actually in the midst of being fixed. Masking tape is also used, but string has been used in this case due to the guitar’s laquer finish.
mine was fixed like this long before it was handed down to me. it’s older than i am and it’s truer than some newer guitars i have owned or tuned.
