If I can get rid of the power supply and the cpu fans, the system will outlive us all.
Also plz add the “Duct Tape” tag?
I have that case (without the cardboard!) I’d recognise those globular blue buttons and the strange shaped floppy slot anywhere.

So, that is what the new Google servers in India look like.
From the documentary, “Inside at the Department of Homeland Security”
Right now the entire back and side of my computer is in this state, but we used plastic wrap instead.
windows 7 has be revealed!
My brother once made a case out of wood. It was pretty sweet.
You’re only a nerd if you haven’t yet built a computer with a cardboard case. Yep, keep reading your PC World subscription.
when it’ll come out, there will be even more patches!
I built a similar mod once, only uglier. This was a case in which the top and both sides were one solid piece, which had disappeared. Only one side really needed to be covered, so I taped a piece of cardboard on. Tape held the bottom on, and some paper clips stuck through it attached to the frame kept it in place, easily removed for maintenance. I also cut holes in the cardboard to mount some fans in.
This got even more ghetto when the power button stopped working, and I couldn’t find a replacement button. For a while I turned it on by poking the contacts on the motherboard where the button had connected. I later ran some wires to them, so it could be turned on by touching the wires together.
The front also had a few drive bays, only one of which had a cover. This was the turbo/reset/LED display panel from another machine that for some reason didn’t quite fit. You could see the wires running everywhere. I had no real use for the display, since it could only go up to 199 and this thing was 233, so I just hacked it to show “ICE” as that was the only word I could think of that I could make out of it.
Sadly I believe my brother threw it out when I left it with him and he ugraded. Doubt I have any photos.
LOL
It is actually surprising how you can fix most of a PC case with just a bit of cardboard, glue and duct tape. And it doesn’t even need to be as ugly as this. I have one old computer that looks perfectly right, except you’d see that the CD-ROM drive is attached using cardboard (I replaced missing rails using that material).
I think there are some professionals that sell all-cardboard cases (they probably don’t have a huge success though).
