Riiiiigh, looks good to me.
@Jarod
*Riiiiight
on the “mixing” edge. I love advancements in technology!
Looks good to me! Tell me you’ve never used a drill as a whisk.
This is not as WTFey as I like my epic kludges on this site to be. In fact, if I didn’t have a stand mixer, I might use this idea at home.
This would have been better if it was a drill!
At least we won’t have any trolls crying “photoshop” on this one.
Photoshop!
Sorry couldn’t help my self
At least he put a removable cube under the recipient, so still usable :p
Needs a record player under the bowl…
the upper part of a stand mixer also moves doesn’t it? wonder if it’ll be even mixing?
And I thought the kludge was IN the bowl!
Totally photoshopped.
Yeah, the reflections are all wrong. There’s not really anything in that bowl.
*blushes* I’ve done a variant of this … didn’t want to hold the hand mixer for the five min it took to mix a pound cake
This answers the question: What makes an even worse birthday gift for your wife than a kitchen appliance?
“appliance” tag is misspelled, btw
I could see myself doing this. (blush) Hey, you have to mix some things a very long time!
We already saw someone using a drill: http://thereifixedit.com/2009/07/14/epic-kludge-photo-i-love-pancakes/ .
Any claims of photoshopping must provide evidence to support them.
There is nothing to photoshop here, either its really been used and works fine for the person who did it or it has just been put together like that for the picture to appear here. Anyway the idea is not bad, at least its pretty safe…
Photoshopping such a picture would take longer than actually building the thing!
@ Jared. Agreed. I think we’ll have to chalk this one up to actual human ingenuity.
I hate to admit it, but before I actually *got* a stand mixer, I’ve done something similar – especially when there’s not a kid around to “help” mom.
@Evan
Not if you don’t give us enough time.
I have a mixer similar to that, and it came with a cheap stand + base to hold/rotate the bowl.
The “real” stand mixers are quite pricey, but last for decades.
To work right, it should be sitting on a lazy susan! If it’s only mixing the one portion, it’s not gonna do much good.
@tammy
That’s the deluxe model.
looks like someone vomited in a bowl.
Real kludgers do not use C clamps. That which cannot be done w/ duct tape and vise grips is not worth doing.
Nothing holding the bowl in place? Surely it will soon rattle off the edge of the tissue box and dinner will hit the floor!
That table looks a bit short, maybe they chopped bits off it before giving up and going for the cube stand?
The bowl needs to be clamped down too. When mixing a thicker batter, the bowl will rotate and batter will end up on the walls.
Hey, if it works, go with it!
[...] week I posted a kitchen kludge of a Hand Mixer turned Stand [...]
If he bought me a real one, I wouldn’t mind an appliance for my birthday. But please, please don’t give my husband the notion that he could do this. x.x;
the very first kitchen aid mixer
Now if only there was a turntable under that bowl, you’d really be all set.
