The funny thing is that this is a very common sight in Portland, Or. Lots of people here use bicycles the same way average Americans use cars. So if there’s a large party, someone will go out with a bike trailer or bakfiets to pick up a keg of beer.

If it’s uphill to the supplier, it would work. As long as they have good brakes on the bike for the return trip, it’s pure win.

I saw a lot of similarly equipped bikes (usually single speed with an enclosed chain) in Denmark on a bike trip across that country some years ago. Denmark is very flat, and there are a lot of beer drinkers. It seemed like an efficient way of getting around the larger cities with a small load. Probably not a safe way in this country, though.

He’s definitely raised the bar but I would have expected that Bud would have been wiser. Even though his wagon has stout tires, if he gets tapped out and can’t keep a head of the pack or hops the curb, he’s going to be feeling a draught (especially if his bottom’s up). Either that or he’ll get mugged. Regardless, I sense trouble brewing.
