Because Everything Looks Better In 2 Megapixels x 1000

Morning Fixers! The owner of this kludge, one Bhautik Joshi, was kind enough to email me this morning to give us more insight to what he was thinking. Hop on over here for the full story. – Ms. Fix-It

Got expensive lenses that you can’t use? There’s a kludge for that.

Yep, with the power of duct tape, there’s a kludge for just about everything”

Does it really work? Want to see a pic taken with it!
Apparently it does work and there is duct tape involved. http://cow.mooh.org/2009/12/phone-o-scope-attaching-slr-lenses-to.html
…and I STILL can’t hear a thing!!!
SLR: Standard Low Resolution…
Why o why wasn’t I thinking about the duct tape? And I just pasted up some lenses at a yard sell just because they wouldn’t fit my camera!
So many missed opportunities in my life.
Wow, it makes shitty pictures. Worth it’s time really!
SLR= Simply Looks Retarded, or Someone Lost Reality. Fail..
For the ’shy’ cell phone camera upskirt enthusiast.
Assuming this does work, vignetting would still be a serious problem – all the pictures would come out round.
From the build Web site: “Note the odd barrel distortion and vignetting in the Phone-O-Scope image. Taken with the 18-55mm lens.”
There are a few little magnifying lenses that sit in-between the SLR lens and the iPhone lens that minimize the vignetting; they allow the image coming out of the SLR lens to be viewed full-frame on the phone.

According to the link in William’s post above, this is a really cool experiment. They knew ahead of time it wouldn’t be perfect, but they wanted to try constructing this thing anyway, and it actually takes really intersting looking pictures! Love it.
The phone would no longer fit in a pocket! Would it still be usable as a phone?
I’m just picturing the owner of the Iphone when a call comes in holding the thing up to his ear using the lens as a handle like one would hold the earpiece of an antique phone.
I kinda like the vignetting effect… finally, a kool kludge around here
See honey?We don’t need a $700 camera! Just a dime store one and a $250 Lens!
I’d recommend this guy for a job at NASA, but he’s way too steampunk.
He probably doesn’t have enough initials behind his name to qualify. Think of all the money NASA would save!
It’s not the size of the lens that matters, it’s how you use it!
Wow… I wish I had enough money to rip apart an iphone for fun. What next? Maybe he’ll post how to make it into a doorstop by pounding one side of it with a sledge hammer until it’s wedge shaped…
The Verizon Droid makes the iPhone look like a doorstop.
Woah there Mr. Sharpie. If you’d actually read the description of the hack, you’d see that you don’t have to rip apart the phone or the lens to make the hack work – “I wanted to try something that required the minimum amount of disassembly of expensive components (i.e. no warranty voiding!)”.
There is no way those 3 little pieces of tape can hold that lense securely…
I knew it! The iPhone is a sentient piece of technology that’s plotting to slowly assimilate every piece of technology to… I dunno, form a giant robot or something. Still evil, though.
I just had “Power Ranger” flashbacks.
I LOVE this kludge – inspired – almost a Salvador Dali attempt at a camera
Periscope camera–for the perv on the go!
My friend at hack-a-day did an article on this..
No, No, I tell you I’m with the press. Let me find my press pass so you can let me into the presidents dinner! I’m the official photographer! Honest!
It’s not the picture that counts it the absolutely funny assed comments.
yes it does work
Good to see that mom and dad’s college money wasn’t a complete waste!
Does it work? Why can’t you just get a normal DSLR?
Just above this, is a banner advertising camera stuff … OH THE IRONY!
